Using the Package SealerWorkshop Client Engaged in Assembly workAt our 20,000 square foot industrial Workshop supported by our newly constructed 20,000 square foot warehouse annex, clients learn light manufacturing skills such as assembling, packaging, collating, shrink-wrapping, and blister packaging and then utilize these skills to assemble and package products that are sold by local businesses as well as national chain stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreen’s, Eckerd Drugs, and Toys-Я-Us.  Currently, we provide paid employment for 200 individuals with disabilities.

Our ability to operate the Workshop as a successful business venture is the result of creating a quality work environment for our clients, providing effective training in a variety of work skills, striving to assist each person to achieve his/her full potential for productive work, and instilling in our clients a positive work ethic. At the same time, we meet customer expectations for quality service.

Job Club ClassroomClients are placed in regular paid jobs in the community and paired with a job coach who works along side of that person, providing whatever support, assistance, training, coaching, mentoring, problem resolution, and advocacy the person may need in order to succeed on that job.

We currently support nearly 120 individuals working in community employment, earning wages, participating in the everyday rhythm and ritual of work, demonstrating that individuals with disabilities represent a viable workforce, and giving back to the community through the taxes they pay.

Sam's CafeAt Lunch in Sam's Cafe

This 11,000 square foot banquet hall and professional kitchen provides training to our clients in all aspects of food preparation.  Cafe workers prepare and serve meals to clients and staff everyday and provide high quality catering services in the community.  Additionally, Sam's Cafe offers its meeting rooms and banquet services for private and community functions, including weddings, quinceaneras, company banquets, conferences and New Horizons' sponsored events.

High School Student Program

Seniors from local high school special education programs are invited to participate in the above work programs and are paid for their work.  Upon graduation, these students often come to New Horizons to receive its services.  During any given semester, we serve from 10 to 15 students with developmental disabilities.
